The CommSec Explore & Research project aims to identify best practices for redesigning the market research experience based on the existing design. The goal is to create a coherent, user-friendly, and responsive market research experience for CommSec retail investors, while developing flexible modules that can be integrated across various CommSec channels and platforms. As part of this process, the existing designs will be analyzed and modified, using relevant data, to ensure they are ready for development.
From global indices to Australia-specific insights, each feature was designed to visualize, compare, and connect market data, bridging global trends with local perspectives through a unified research experience.
A structured, iterative design process from research and definition to exploration and delivery, transforming insights into clear, actionable solutions.
Discover
Analyzed the existing platform and built proof-of-concept designs, while researching competitor experiences to uncover opportunities for improvement.
Define
Collaborated closely with the client through a creative brief exercise to define project goals, challenges, dependencies, and scope with clarity and alignment.
Explore
Developed wireframes and multiple UI directions aligned with defined goals, refining the concept through data-driven iterations and progressive detailing.
Deliver
Executed full design exploration and interactive prototypes, delivering final layouts, documentation, and implementation-ready assets for handoff.
Every challenge was an opportunity to scale — here's how I approached it.
The CommSec and CBA ecosystem included multiple websites and native apps, but the project scope was undefined. The goal was to design flexible modules that could live across all platforms seamlessly.
CommSec’s new UI system was still under development, with no clear visual or structural standards to follow at the start of the project.
This was my first time leading a full project — managing structure, planning, and delivery independently from start to finish.
Created a detailed creative brief to clarify project goals and structure, enabling the design of adaptable, modular components that fit any platform context.
Collaborated closely with CommSec’s design team, studied their MUI-based foundation, and customized our system for full alignment with their upcoming UI design standards.
Set clear, specific goals for each team member and established regular feedback loops, ensuring both project success and personal development could be tracked and supported.

This project reinforced our partnership with CBA–CommSec, Australia’s largest online broking organization and a leader in the country’s financial industry. Working directly with their product and design teams, we helped CommSec expand beyond the Australian market, enabling accurate, real-time delivery of global market data across securities, commodities, and foreign exchange.
